Osteopathy (osteopathic medicine) is a philosophy, science and art.

Osteopathy as a philosophy proclaims the concept of the unity of the structure and function of the body in health and disease. Osteopathy as a science is based on chemical, physical and biological sciences related to maintaining health and preventing, treating and alleviating the effects of the disease. The art of osteopathy is about combining and applying its philosophy and science in practice in all departments and specialties of medicine.
